These pendants are inspired by Hei Matua fish hooks from the Maori of New Zealand, which bring good luck and safe passage over water to the wearer - connecting them to the god of the sea.

The shape of these hooks originates from a legend which states that a great mariner Maui caught a giant fish, using only a woven line and a hook made from his grandma's jawbone.

These pendants begin life as a slab of wax which is hand carved into the hook shape. We then press these models into sand to leave an imprint of the design. The sand mould is then filled with molten aluminium and finally polished into the shiny pendants they are today.

To continue our mission of keeping our work unique, each design has limited availablity. There are only 7 pieces of this design available - each of the 7 pendants has been stamped with a shape of the moon during the lunar phase to symbolise its place in this. When the phase is up, there will be no more casting of this piece.
